What to do in rural tourism?
As we have been saying, Asturias is the cradle of ecotourism in Spain, and here we will tell you what to see in Asturias. If you choose to go on a rural getaway, there are numerous routes and places worth visiting.
A visit to the Picos de Europa National Park is a must. This is one of the most visited natural areas in the country, with more than 1.5 million visitors a year. Although it has such a large number of visitors, it is also one of the most respected natural parks. This park is divided into 4 areas of special interest: Enol, El Bricial de Cangas de Onís and the glacial lakes of Covadonga. The traditional Descent of the Sella is well known throughout Spain. In this descent, hundreds of canoeists compete to see who is the fastest down the river.
In addition to the famous Picos de Europa Nature Reserve, Asturias is home to the Muniellos Biosphere Reserve, in Cangas del Narcea. This reserve is not so well known because only 20 visitors a day are allowed and it is necessary to book almost a month in advance. Muniellos is home to the largest oak forest in Spain, but not only that, there is also a large flora (with more than 400 different species of fungi) and fauna, with brown bears, wolves, otters, foxes…

Enjoy Asturian gastronomy
